MISSION OPPORTUNITIES

Local Mission: Our House

Auburn, Alabama

Our House is an outreach to families in Ridgecrest Apartments of Auburn Public Housing. We volunteer there in the after school outreach for students in K-12. They welcome students to come to Our House after school on Monday through Thursday for a healthy snack and help with their homework/tutoring. This is NOT an after school program or babysitting, but rather an opportunity for children from the neighborhood to get help with homework and learn to be responsible for their assignments/studies. We intend to love, encourage and mentor “Our Kids” and help them gain confidence in their abilities to excel at school.

Local Service Days: My Jerusalem

Auburn, Alabama

This event, like many others around Auburn, strives to give back to the community with a day of service. Teams from all over Auburn go out and work on beautification projects, lard work, house work, or city clean up. It is humbling to give up a Saturday and go out to do physical labor in the afternoon Southern heat. Not only do the students get to help people who may not be able to do these things themselves, but they get to talk to them and hear their stories. Building relationships is a critical part of this day of service.

Spring Break Mission Trip: Restoration ATL

Atlanta, Georgia

Restoration Atlanta is a fully immersive mission experience in the heart of Atlanta. RATL mission experiences combine elements of a spiritual retreat with the components of an inner-city mission trip to create a transformative and restorative mission experience. RATL’s mission experience challenges volunteers to serve the marginalized by “being with” instead of “doing for” families transitioning out of homelessness. Throughout the week, our team spends time eating meals with the women and children, leading activities, tutoring, and simply sharing life with them.
